Help is Always There
Bimini is Calling
Greetings
My move to Virginia is complete.
Took over 2 weeks to find the fax machine. I've got things
organized enough to do work. Yet there are still several more
boxes to unpack and put away.
I told you about my going away party with many of my dearest
girlfriends from Santa Fe in the previous newsletter. You
can see video clips on YouTube or my Facebook profile (http://www.facebook.com/debbieshelor).
Transitioning from the old to the new is not always easy.
It's time to evaluate what is and isn't working in your life
and surround yourself with the right people.
My desire is that you become empowered to regain your own
magnificence by reading about my journey, experiences, and
insights.
May you be blessed in the radiance of The One. May you find
peace, joy, and upliftment in the words and energies that
accompany this message.
Take a slow deep breath. Focus on your heart and give thanks
for this moment.
Here we go . . .

is Always There
"I can't imagine what this place would have been like
if I hadn't found you here." - BJ Hunnicutt to Hawkeye
Pierce - M.A.S.H. final episode
Boy do I know that feeling!
I can't imagine what the last 6 or so years would have been
like without my closest allies, Millie Stefani in particular,
being there to help me through that powerful and life altering
storm called the last few years of my marriage.
I would not be who I am today had I not been fine tuned by
that experience. I would not have the wisdom, courage, confidence,
or sense of self I have right now had I dealt with it differently
than I did. And fundamental to my "getting through"
that experience were the friends I surrounded myself with.
Thank God it's over and I've left that pain in the past -
where it belongs.
How about you?
Have you faced something, or are you currently facing something,
and friends, family, and other positive influences miraculously
showed up to help you through?
It's in those times that you realize that you aren't alone.
And I don't just mean that you have people who love and care
about you here on earth. I mean you know in those moments
that the Universe is conspiring in your favor (favour as my
international friends would say). The magical unseen world
is working on your behalf.
Instead of sitting around having a pity party and talking
about "oh woe is me," it is in these moments that
you should get down on your knees and thank the Supreme Being
(God by whatever name) for all the assistance and love you
are receiving. Because how would you ever handle it without
the help?
Besides, gratitude and feeling blessed are the absolute fastest
ways to happiness and joy. Which leads to a less stressed
life, more empowering friendships and love, more job satisfaction
and fulfillment, and much more of the "good stuff"
of life.
Some things that you go through, experience, or endure are
harder than others. And isn't it amazing that just the right
people show up at exactly the right time to help you?
In your journey through life, you will sometimes be confronted
with people and situations that are unpleasant and/or disempowering.
These situations can happen in your career, within friendships,
even marriage and other intimate relationships.
Often you aren't sure what to do. Old patterns rear their
ugly heads and you feel less than, unworthy, messed up, like
you've failed, or any other "dumb" thing you believe
that really isn't the truth. But boy is it true for you right
now. (Don't worry - we all do that. You are definitely not
alone in experiencing moments like this.)
Have compassion for the other players in your drama. Like
I always say, "They are doing the best they can with
what they've got in every moment." Now sometimes their
best truly sucks. But based on their past, their beliefs,
what they were taught as children, the experiences they have
had or not had, they truly are doing the best they can with
what they've got.
And so are you.
So stop judging them and yourself so harshly.
But that doesn't mean you have to hang around and simply "take"
benig mistreated either.
It is these hard moments, the times when you are feeling uncomfortable,
the times that you would rather avoid instead of face what
is right in front of you, that help you become your greatest
potential.
Sometimes you have to walk away and say "no more."
Sometimes you have to kindly tell the person that this isn't
working for you and you are going to take your marbles and
go home - no longer playing in their game by their rules -
because that game and those rules are no longer working for
you.
It takes courage.
It takes an inner knowing that you are worth it. Feeling good
about yourself is fundamental to health and happiness.
Now I'm not telling you to go and quite your job tomorrow.
I'm saying get clear about what you do and don't want in your
life and take actions to surround yourself with people and
situations that support and empower you, that acknowledge
and appreciate your magnificent self.
I've decided that if they don't adore you, then they don't
deserve you. And I mean that. Adoration is to appreciate all
aspects of who you are without needing for you to change.
And feeling blessed that you have graced their life with your
company. I feel that way about so many people in my life.
No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. Everyone has fears,
self doubt, and worry. Everyone secretly runs this fear that
"If they really knew me, they wouldn't love me."
So everyone pretends. And they suppress their own needs and
desires to please another.
But eventually, all that pretending takes it's toll. It shows
up as pain, illness and disease, as a lack of energy, vitality,
and joy.
The truth is, when you are being disempowered by others through
their judgment, criticism, or other forms of dishonor or mistreatment
including ignoring you or treating you as insignificent, you
have nothing to offer. It sucks the life right out of you.
And honestly, if you don't get out of that situation, it could
actually kill you over time.
Life is short. Every moment is precious. Who you surround
yourself with is vital to your happiness and success.
Find those people who appreciate and accept you as you are,
who feel grateful and blessed that you showed up in their
life, who make you feel good about yourself, who can listen
without judgment, and stand by your side even if they don't
always agree with some of the decisions you make.
In order to have those kinds of friends, you have to first
become one of those friends.
I love and care about alot of people. I feel the pain others
feel whether it be physical, mental, or emotional (an empathic
piscean trait). And I often find myself "suddenly"
in someone's life just as they are facing some form of crisis
or some type of significant change.
What do I do to help those I love?
I listen without judgment. I offer insights when I "receive"
them, without getting bent out of shape if they don't follow
my advice. This is their journey after all - and from their
perspective it's damn hard. I hold their hand. I tell them
I care and mean it. I look them in the eye and see the beautiful,
magnificent person looking back at me - even if they can't
see it within themselves.
I love that Tim McGraw song Live Like You Were Dying. You
should listen to the lyrics.
Life shifts on a dime and you truly don't know which moment
is going to be your last. Let others know how much they mean
to you. And surround yourself with people who love and appreciate
you - warts and all. It makes all the difference.
