Reclaiming the Passions of Youth
Have you been thinking about your past?
I don't mean last week or even last year.
I'm talking about way long ago - when you were young. Before
you were jaded by the traumas of life. Before you grew up
and became a responsible person. Before you earned your battle
scars over love, career, health, friendships and such.
I'm sure if you look far enough you will find the "you"
that was vibrant, happy, excited, even passionate about living.
I've been rekindling the flames of passion from my past.
What was once a tiny flame almost imperceptible even to me
has re-ignited into a roaring fire.
And all I can say is, "It's about time."
When you follow synchronicity and hints or breadcrumbs from
the Universe, and take the actions you feel inspired to take,
pretty amazing things can happen.
Of course the Universe doesn't typically give you hints about
how to get something until you are sure of what it is that
you are looking for. Lucky for me, I'm usually pretty good
at knowing what I want.
Of course as I learn and grow, I alter my desires based on
the new input or the recent experience. And as we go through
those not so great times and experiences, they offer us a
powerful opportunity to discover with great clarity what we
do and do not desire. As I've grown older and hopefully wiser
my desires have changed about my career, about love, about
the type of friends and experiences I want in my life.
Days after my husband moved out, I bought the movie August
Rush. I watched it over and over and over again. It was a
very entertaining form of therapy. Jonathan Rhys Myers wasn't
too bad either. What woman wouldn't want some guy to look
at her that way?
The movie depicts a magical moment in time when two wonderful
people came together. Youth, circumstance, and parental interference
ripped them apart. Yet neither of them ever forgot that magical
moment. And when the time came for them to be reunited, it
was a glorious moment indeed.
That movie helped me restore hope. Hope in magic. Hope in
love. Hope in a wonderful future despite the past.
Watching the movie and feeling how wonderful it feels when
it all works out in the end set up a resonance or vibration
within me of hope and possibility. A resonance that I then
began to exude. A feeling of being truly happy.
As the title of one of my books says: Life Works When You
Are Happy, It Sucks When You Are Not.
When you are happy, everything flows. When you are frustrated,
angry, or bitter, you couldn't make life work if you had to.
In August Rush old flames are reunited. It is happening all
around me in real life as well.
My next door neighbor is a good friend and a delightful woman.
She just recently became a grandmother. Not long ago she suddenly
found herself thinking about a man she dated 35 years ago.
She thought it would be fun to see what he was up to. So,
using the greatest invention since sliced bread, she Googled
him. He was pretty easy to find. They began corresponding
and are now delightfully dating. He is a great guy and they
are having such fun.
Then I was inspired to put together my 30th high school reunion.
I began reconnecting with people from so long ago and it helped
put me back in touch with the person I was back then - before
the rape, before the failed marriage, before life's intense
level of ups and downs.
Now I'm not saying necessarily to go hunting down people
from your past. That would never work. If you haven't been
inspired already, thinking about someone unexpectedly, having
something show up that reminds you of them, then it is you
trying to force it.
And I'm not necessarily even talking about reconnecting with
specific people from your past.
What I'm really suggesting is that you find yourself from
the past - the happy, hopeful, passionate person you once
were - before all the trauma drama, before the ex-boyfriend
or spouse that ripped your heart out, before someone you cared
deeply about died, before you were betrayed by a friend, or
lost your job, or found out you had cancer, or the endless
list of things that many people have had to face as they get
older.
What did you do back then?
What kind of music did you listen to?
Who were your friends?
Think back on those things because rediscovering yourself
and your passion is a powerful thing.
When you have healed the pain from your past, reclaiming
the good stuff becomes radically easier. My eBook Freeway
to Freedom provides you with a powerful set of
tools to do that with ease.
