From a purely biological perspective, dolphins
are air-breathing mammals that inhabit the ocean. They have
the ability to swim so fast they can propel themselves out
of the water and perform somersaults. They also make funny
little clicking sounds. Although interesting, that information
hardly explains why many humans find them so fascinating that
it borders on obsession.
Why do people love them so much?
It is because:
• seeing one leap into the air makes people of all ages squeal
with delight?
• many autistic children suddenly become more responsive after
swimming with them?
• a person who's normally terrified of water feels completely
at peace when they are present?
• people often exhibit the same brain wave pattern as an experienced
meditator after swimming with them only once - even if they've
never meditated before?
• they're such good midwives? - No kidding!
• most cetacean trainers admit (off the record of course)
that they are much more than circus animals and that they've
had at least one experience with the dolphins that they describe
as spiritual or extraordinary?
• practically every person who's been with them in the water
says the experience completely changed their life?
We certainly don't hear comments like that about many other
animals. Hey, wait a minute. We don't hear comments like that
about humans!
They have greatly impacted numerous civilizations.
There have been reports of how they have saved fishermen
from drowning and also assisting them in finding fish dating
back centuries and continuing up to the present day.
The Dogon tribe of Africa has an amazing record of the stars
and their locations without having any type of instruments
to even see some of the things they have records for. When
asked how they could possibly know such things, they say their
legends indicate that dolphin beings taught it to them a very
long time ago.
A group of Aborigines from Australia call themselves "the
dolphin dreamers."
Throughout Greece there are still countless drawings, carvings,
and mosaics of them. There is an entire dwelling dedicated
to them called "The House of Dolphins." And of course
there's the very famous Oracle at Delphi.
So, who are they really?
And why do they still receive so much human attention?
I find those questions pretty challenging to answer.
After years of interaction, study, and telempathic communication,
I feel I only grasp, or understand, a fraction of who they
really are. How do I go about describing a being, or more
aptly a consciousness, that is more advanced than I am?
Of course I'd have to say that dolphins are extraordinary
healers. The comments concerning autistic children, brain
wave patterns, midwifery, and numerous other forms of healing
are very commonplace.
But for me, first and foremost they are teachers. How is
that even possible? I mean how can an animal teach anything
when it lives in the ocean and can't speak the language?
Every great teacher knows that to really reach all students
they have to use every possible avenue. Some students must
see the information in order to really grasp it. Others have
to hear it. And finally, some must do it or feel it in order
to comprehend.
Like all great teachers, dolphins use more than one avenue
to get their message across. Not only do they send messages
using all three of the methods mentioned above, but they send
the messages in at least three different ways: 1) when a person
is with them physically - viewing or swimming with them, 2)
in dreamtime while the person is sleeping, and/or 3) while
the person is in an alpha (meditation) or theta (deep meditation)
brainwave state.
Since 1993 they've been one of my primary sources of inspiration.
I've literally written thousands of pages of information,
insights, and technologies while in a meditative state and
consciously linked to them. I've learned a great deal about
energy, vibration, healing, communication, and joy using the
telempathic process.
Telempathy is a term coined by Join Ocean to describe dolphin
communication as being telepathic and empathetic simultaneously.
My explanation of it is that they send a bundle of energy
containing a large volume of information. A person might see
images, hear words, and/or feel a feeling.
Sound familiar?
And the person has instant understanding or knowing of the
information being sent. I seem to be naturally "wired"
to receive it.
And I'm certainly not alone. Volumes have been written about
the feelings of love, joy, and peace experienced by almost
everyone who encounters them in the wild.
Many individuals, including serious scientists, describe
receiving visions that they attribute to the dolphins.
And some people report that they "actually hear a voice"
when they swim with dolphins. At first this can be quite disconcerting.
You're in the water and suddenly someone says, "Hello."
You look around and the dolphin is the only one close enough
to sound like that. Quickly the initial shock and disbelief
subsides and is replaced by great excitement. Pretty soon
there is a whole conversation occurring between you and the
dolphin.
If you were able to have such a conversation, what could
you learn from them?
Just take a look once again at the list from the beginning
of the article. They have beneficial information for humans
related to experiencing more joy, physical and emotional healing,
altering brain waves, transmuting fears, and changing lives.
Imagine the possibilities . . .
"Thank you for leading me to Roberta Goodman in Kona,
Hawaii. I went swimming with her and the dolphins for four
days. Each day I observed the dolphins playing, traveling
and interacting with other dolphins and with fellow swimmers.
They have a remarkable ability to tap into energy, send energy
and most of all offer a presence of unconditional love. I
was blessed by them on many occasions, I could feel the subtle
vibrations moving through me. I could feel that they were
working on me on many different levels. It was beautiful.
Each day I felt that they had energetically healed me on different
levels. On my last swim with the dolphins I was amazed by
the trust and love that they showed me. I was overcome by
emotion and a feeling of pure love, acceptance, beauty and
joy. As the dolphins surrounded me, I felt at that time that
I was being accepted with an open heart and that I was being
transported into a very special place of love and beauty.
I can not thank you enough for being the person who lead me
to these wonderful experiences." - Maria Bowling L.Ac.,
